Healy Plastic Surgery & Med Spa

A woman’s breasts often change over time, especially after weight fluctuations, pregnancy, or aging. As breasts sag, they may lose their youthful shape and firmness, shift lower on the chest wall, and begin to feel disconnected from how you see yourself. If your breasts are losing their youthful shape, a breast lift may help restore the balance and position you once had… without changing who you are.
Also known as mastopexy, breast lift surgery lifts the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to reshape and support the breast mound. This cosmetic surgery creates a more youthful breast contour, improving breast profile, nipple position, and overall breast shape.
At Healy Plastic Surgery in Honolulu, Dr. Jeff Healy brings precision, expertise, and compassion to every procedure. As a board-certified plastic surgeon, he personally performs all breast surgery procedures and collaborates with you through recovery. With a private, AAAASF-certified surgical suite and complimentary lifetime follow-ups, you’ll experience continuity of care in a setting built for comfort and privacy.

A breast lift—known as mastopexy—is a surgical procedure that raises sagging breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to reshape the breast. It does not significantly change the size of your breasts or increase breast volume, but it can be performed in combination with breast surgeries like breast augmentation or breast reduction if you want to adjust fullness or size.
Over time, loss of skin elasticity can make the breast skin stretch and cause the nipple to sit lower on the breast or point downward. The breast lift procedure elevates the nipple position, firms the overall shape, and reshapes the breast to sit higher on the chest wall—helping you look and feel more like yourself again.

Your breast lift surgery is performed in our private surgical suite under general anesthesia, with the entire procedure typically taking 2 to 3 hours. Before surgery, Dr. Healy will review your medical history, conduct a physical exam, and design a surgical plan that fits your breast shape, skin tone, and personal goals.
During surgery, Dr. Healy lifts the breast tissue, reshapes the breast mound, and repositions the nipple areola complex. He may also reduce the areola size if it has stretched over time.
He uses one of several common incision techniques, selected based on the degree of lift needed:
Some procedures may also use tissue matrices or “the internal bra” approach to support the breast from within. These advanced surgical techniques are excellent particularly for breast surgery involving more lift or reduced elasticity.
After surgery, you’ll wear a surgical bra or soft support bra for several weeks to support healing.

A breast lift can rejuvenate the chest when breasts change due to:
If you feel your breasts are smaller than you’d like but also sagging, you may consider combining breast lift with breast augmentation for a fuller, more natural look. Consider a breast lift plan that addresses both shape and volume.
The goal of a breast lift is to help your chest reflect how you feel inside—upright, confident, and proportionate. Most women who undergo the procedure say they feel lighter, more confident in clothing, and better aligned with their body image.
Benefits include:
And for women who’ve felt self-conscious about losing their youthful shape, the change often brings renewed comfort and ease.
You may be a good candidate for a breast lift if:
If you’re looking for more volume or wish to go smaller, you can also consider combining breast lift with breast augmentation or breast reduction.
Dr. Healy will guide you through every option and help you choose a path that fits your anatomy and goals.

Recovery from a breast lift is typically smooth. Most women return to work and light activity about one week after surgery. Swelling and soreness are common but easily managed with pain medication, rest, and proper support garments.
You’ll wear a surgical bra or soft support bra around the clock for several weeks to promote healing and maintain the new breast contour. Avoid heavy lifting or exercise for 6 weeks.
Dr. Healy sees all of his patients personally for follow-up, monitoring your progress closely and helping you manage swelling, surgical scars, and results over time. We offer lifetime follow-ups at no additional cost.
A breast lift will reduce droop, raise the breast profile, and restore a youthful breast contour—typically with visible improvement immediately. Over the following weeks and months, swelling fades and the final shape settles.
Scars soften with time and are usually well-hidden under clothing or bras. With stable weight and healthy habits, your results can last many years.
A breast lift doesn’t change who you are. It simply helps your shape reflect the strength, balance, and beauty that’s already there.

No. A breast lift reshapes and raises the breasts but doesn’t add volume. If you want more fullness, you can consider combining breast lift with breast augmentation.
The nipple position is typically elevated to match the new shape and contour of the breast. Sensation is often preserved, though temporary numbness is common.
Absolutely. Weight loss and pregnancy are two of the most common reasons women seek a breast lift, especially after noticing loss of skin elasticity or drooping.
Dr. Healy uses refined techniques to minimize surgical scars. Most fade over time and are well-hidden beneath clothing or bras.
Yes. As with any surgical procedure, there are risks, including poor healing, bleeding, or reaction to general anesthesia. These are rare and discussed thoroughly during your consultation.
Results can last for many years. However, natural aging and future weight fluctuations may affect shape over time.
Breastfeeding may still be possible, but it can be affected depending on the technique used. If this is important to you, Dr. Healy will discuss it during your consultation.
Breast lifts are considered elective and not typically covered. We do offer flexible financing to make care more accessible.
Prepare a space at home where you can recline comfortably and have easy access to water, medications, and snacks—this helps reduce tension and swelling.
